An Update That's Shorter Than The Amount of Sleep I've Gotten

Me again, I know I disappeared.  Been working through a lot lately, not to mention working full time. Anyways.  This blog will probably never be what it once was, or what I once envisioned it as.  I've changed too much, and I don't feel at home in this little community like I used to.  You all are wonderful, caring people, we just disagree on a lot of things.  Plus, I'd like to use my real name for things, but I don't remember how to change things on this blog.   Oops. That said, maybe I'll start another blog.  But that one is for me.  A journal, of sorts, to get things out and anonymously on the internet.  I would volunteer a link, but also things like that get heavy, and that's an unfair burden to ask somewhat known strangers to take on. So take care, y'all. If you'd like to stay in touch, let me know, and we can figure out a way.  Best wishes and all my love, Bree Ryden

Did the Blog Die? Who Knows

Hello there, it's me.  I almost forgot about this little corner of the internet, and I'm sure that's not obvious at all. However, I may revamp it and pick it back up in a few weeks, but no promises.  If I do return more than twice a year, it won't be as it originally started - a lot has changed since I started this lil blog.  Brianna has changed a lot since she started this lil blog.  It'd be nice to blog again, honestly.  It'd be a lot different: still some posts involving literary exploits, but likely more posts about life in general and some good brutal honesty.  Who knows?  I certainly don't, but we'll see what happens together. Hope y'all are doing well <3

The Get to Know Me Tag - Writer's Edition

Time Is Still Marching On

Hello all. It's been a long time.  As in since October.  And to be fully honest, I didn't think I'd ever come back to blogging. Anyway, here I am, hello, nice to see you, does anyone have cake? In all seriousness, I'm not sure where this is going to end up - I may stick with blogging, I may not, I may completely change what I post about, I may not.  Like my life, it's all in limbo and requiring far too much thought.  Unlike my life, it's online. Just kidding. My life is mostly online, with homework and all. *coughs* So, I guess this post is to say that I'm back..?  But conditionally.  If things happen and I can't handle this, then it goes.  My mental, emotional, and physical health have to be my priorities right now, honestly.  I'll try to be more active with reading and commenting, but that's also conditional.  We'll see how this goes, y'all.  To be honest, I'm kind of terrified of it.  But running away from your fears...

I'm Not Dead - Yet

Hello all. It's been a while.  And I'm sorry for that.  I'm not going to try and explain everything, but it hasn't been the easiest couple months.  A lot of stress, and a lot of other things.  Tonight is the first time in a long time that I've actually felt capable of typing out a post, so I'm taking advantage of that. Anyway.  Enough of "Unnecessary Explanations with Brianna," let's move on to the actual point of this.  Which is to say that, with all that's going on, I won't be around much.  I'm terribly sorry, but I need a break.  A semi-permanent one.  So, goodbye for now, everyone.  I'll be back when I can, but there are no guarantees on when.  Good luck and God bless, you all.  I miss you, but I can't handle this too, at least right now.  Maybe I'll see you again - hopefully sooner than later. Thanks for reading, y'all.  Goodbye for now.  And I wish you all the best. Brianna

Quick Request

Hey y'all, this isn't a scheduled post, or anything, really.  My apologies.  I'm working on stuff. Anyway. I'm sure most, if not all, of you have heard about Hurricane Florence .  It's going to hit the East Coast of the US, and it's supposed to hit very hard .  I know some of you live out that way, and I have a very good friend who's in Maryland.  And I'm worried about all of you.  So I'd like to ask y'all to join me in praying. Pray for safety for everyone affected. Pray that the storm would lose strength. Pray that the storm would make ground where it will do the least damage. Pray that God protects everyone in the storm's path. And pray for anything else that God puts on your heart.  But please join me in praying for this situation.  Spread the word.  Get other people to pray too.  Let's call out to the only One who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and completely perfect, and ask Him to intervene in this.  And in the end,...

Goodbye Forever, Summer 2018

Image
I know.  I've been gone without any warning.  For over a month.  There's no excuse, and I'm sorry.  But life's hit me over the head with more than I knew it had in store, and I've dropped blogging because I simply didn't feel up to it.  However, hopefully I'll actually stick around this time. I decided to pick a nice, cheerful title.  How'd I do? Anyway, my summer was kind of filled with contradictions.  It was hot and cold, busy and laidback, exciting and slow, and filled with oh so much fun and oh so much stress. Life Happened And It Was Very Weird • I put a bag on a frog's head.  Oops. • My friend dragged me along to a summer basketball thing.  I went back three times. :) • Cabin time with theatre friends!!  And no one drowned!  And we got sleep - even after someone decided to tell creepy stories involving wallpaper and human skin.  All in all, one of my favorite parts of the summer. • I got my class...

Top Ten Tuesday - I Don't Remember Colors

Image
In honor of Independence Day, (aka the 4th of July, aka the holiday with the easiest date to remember,) the TTT linkup  theme is . . . Books with Red, White, and Blue Covers!! The thing is . . . I have less than no memory of what book covers look like, let alone what color they are.  I was reading a book earlier this afternoon, and I literally could not tell you what the color scheme was.  But enough about my life failures and problems.  After much consultation of my bookshelf and library account, I have come up with a list.     9: Blue Murder on the Orient Express - Agatha Christie In my humble opinion, this is the best of Christie's books.  The twist at the end is absolutely shocking, but the lead-up does give all the clues.  I'd also recommend the movie that came out last year - it was quite well-done.  8: Red The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle There's no bias attached to this one at all....

Um . . . Ouch.

I'm basically an expert on injuring myself, and those are my qualifications to write this.  Anyway, this is inspired both by my talent (curse?  I'm not sure) and my realization that injuries are very genre-specific.  (For instance, fantasy is always the shoulder injury, or impalation, or an arrow to the knee.) But fantasy, sci-fi, action, and crime/mystery are the only genres that I could think of when thinking about injuries in fiction.  So I decided to write a post about one question: where are the realistic injuries in contemporary fiction?  Because this is a really important question, and it's totally integral to good storywriting.  In all honesty, it was just bothering me.  So I wrote about it, of course. It's really a two-part question, though.  First of all, why aren't there injuries?  And secondly, what is a realistic injury, anyway?  For that matter, why is this even important? As to the first half, I have no idea....

Life Lessons from Theatre

In all honesty, this is a bit of laziness on my part.  I'm too exhausted to write anything more right now.  So, you're getting a ramble from my theatre-saturated brain.  Don't thank me too enthusiastically.  I've learned a lot from my six years of acting.  Life lessons, acting skills, and many other things.  It's been one of the best things I've ever participated in, and I can say without a doubt that acting has changed my life and helped make me into the person I am now.  That said, I'd like to share some things I've learned. 1. Trust This is one of the most important things I've learned.  When you act, you willingly place yourself in a very vulnerable position - you have to be willing to try new things and pour your heart into your character.  If you don't trust your fellow actors, it's almost impossible.  But when everyone trusts each other, amazing things happen.  The first step is the hardest - in a way, you're giving othe...

I'll Be Back . . . Soon

Sorry for the random silence from me.  I have a few posts in the works, but I've been rather busy with theatre and haven't gotten around to finishing them.  And, as of today, I am recovering from a minor biking accident.  So, apologies for being gone, and I promise to return soon.  You know, when I can type with both hands.  😊  See y'all soon! Liebster Award - More Insanity!

Image
First of all, I must apologize.  I meant to have this up about a week ago, but a lot of other things were going on, so I'm late.  I promise, I'm not gone - just bad at keeping up with things.  All right, let's get into this.  I'm answering the second half of the questions today, and I'll also reveal the truths and lies at the end.  It was so much fun seeing what everyone thought!   True's Questions: 1. What's your favorite flower?  Ooh, that's a hard one!  I love most flowers, but I'd have to go with daffodils or roses. 2. If you could be any character for a day, who would you chose? (And what would you do in that day?)  Hmm.  I think I'd either want to be Blue from the Raven Cycle, so I could hang out with the Raven Boys; or be Pippin from Lord of the Rings.  As Pippin, I could explore Middle-Earth, but also get to see all of my favorite characters - not to mention I'm a fair bit like Pippin myself.  ...
