Top Ten Tuesday - I Don't Remember Colors

Image
In honor of Independence Day, (aka the 4th of July, aka the holiday with the easiest date to remember,) the TTT linkup  theme is . . . Books with Red, White, and Blue Covers!! The thing is . . . I have less than no memory of what book covers look like, let alone what color they are.  I was reading a book earlier this afternoon, and I literally could not tell you what the color scheme was.  But enough about my life failures and problems.  After much consultation of my bookshelf and library account, I have come up with a list.     9: Blue Murder on the Orient Express - Agatha Christie In my humble opinion, this is the best of Christie's books.  The twist at the end is absolutely shocking, but the lead-up does give all the clues.  I'd also recommend the movie that came out last year - it was quite well-done.  8: Red The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle There's no bias attached to this one at all....

Top Ten Tuesday - Favorite Quotes

Image
Guess who started this post and then realized that the TTT linkup (hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl ) coming up in three days happened to be the same thing?  So, enjoy.  And they probably won't all be book quotes.  Don't sue me.   1. “Taking your own life. Interesting expression - taking it from who? Once it’s over, it’s not you who’ll miss it. Your own death is something that happens to everybody else. Your life is not your own. Keep your hands off it.”  Sherlock Holmes (BBC Show, Season 4) And this one might actually be my favorite quote ever - it's so very thought-provoking.   2. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king. Fellowship of the Ring - J.R.R. Tolkien I actu...

The Tag That Must Not Be Named

The Nameless Tag by Brianna Stacyn Pardon the joke.  :D  On to the tag!  The lovely Lila Kims tagged me for whatever this thing is, so thanks to her!  She calls this tag The Mysteriously Nameless Book Tag - sounds ominous.  Here we go! What book has been on your shelf the longest? Umm . . . *goes to check*   I actually cleared out my bookshelf a year or two back because I wasn't reading the books there, but it's probably Anne of Green Gables or Little Women . What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next? Pride and Prejudice , Probing , I don't really know . . . maybe The Tethered World ?  It'll end up being whatever I have time for, really. What book did everyone like, but you hated? Les Miserables.   I couldn't get through it.  Granted, I was reading the full version, but I just couldn't stand it.  I'll pick it up again this summer.  Hopefully, I'll make it through this ...

10 Great Obscure Books

Image
10 Great Books by Brianna Stacyn I always love the hidden gem - the book that no one else seems to know about, which you enthusiastically tell everyone to read.  Here's a list of ten books that I've loved, but that aren't as well-known. 10.   Peeled - Joan Bauer I love this one because: A. It's about a girl who writes!  B. The senior citizens are hilarious.  C.  This quote alone: "No typos, either, but there was some unfortunate wording in a classified ad: DOG FOR SALE - Eats anything and is particularly fond of children." 9.   T he Thirty-Nine Steps - John Buchan  This is a grown-up version of Tintin in some ways.  Think an epic chase across the English countryside, a terrifying omnipresent villain, and absolute sheer amazing spy story. 8.   The Rumpelstiltskin Problem - Vivian Vande Velde If you, by any chance, enjoy fairytale retellings, do not miss this book!  Her hilarious take on Rump...

Image
Yep, that title's correct.  I've been tagged (first time, ahh!)  The lovely, amazing, and sarcastic Mary Kate *applause* has tagged me for the Writer's Book Tag !  If you haven't already clicked those little links, what are you waiting for?  As I already said, she's amazing, so you're completely and totally missing out . . . *taps foot* All righty, now that we've established the fact that Mary Kate is wonderful, on to the tag!  RULES: Shout out to the blogger who tagged you! (I don't know that shouting at my computer is the best way to do this, so I'll just point you back up to that first paragraph and threaten you with death if you disregard my instructions. 😊) Tag 3 people. (I'll do that at the end . . . that way y'all have to read the whole thing. :D ) Use the Graphic. (See below. Such a pretty graphic, isn't it?) On to the questions!  This should be fun . . .  First Draft: A Book Or Series ...
